With a name like Crazy Bear, would-be visitors could be forgiven for thinking the circus is in town. But the only thing crazy about this Fitzrovia beauty is the delicious selection of fine Japanese, Thai, and Chinese cuisine and the rich decor in which to savour it. This is London’s multicultural fusion at its absolute finest – and with several awards under its belt, guests can be guaranteed that time and money spent here will be an experience unlike any other.
The a la carte menu from Tuesdays to Saturdays alone is worth a whirl, featuring staples of sashimi, salad, nigirizushi, uramaki, makizushi, temaki, soup, seafood, and dessert dishes, just to name a few (as well as sides, starters, and lip-smacking meat and poultry options).
Sharing menus and the Dim Sum tea party are also a great way to spend an evening with family and friends. The accompanying wine list is just as enticing and varied, including an excellent selection of sparkling, white, rose, red, and dessert wines, as well as thirty different bottles of Champagne on the list. There is an equally enticing cocktail menu. Selection here is truly in excess - guests will be spoilt for choice and a good scouring of the menu quickly becomes a rewarding art.
As for the decor? This is tradition meets modern: deep red button-back banquettes combine tastefully with dark green and gold walls, giving a warmth to this ‘underground’ style venue, while neon lights are beautifully juxtaposed against old-style booths and contemporary seating. DJ’s and masterclasses only add to its exciting energy. And while it can be a little pricey, an experience at Crazy Bear is more than worth it. So, take a culinary journey and treat yourself to London’s finest.
