On your marks......get set......GO! Yes, the rain came down, but it did nothing to dampen the spirit of thousands of runners and their support crew at this year's Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on Sunday, 12 October - a stunning 13.1 mile route through Central London, starting and finishing in Hyde Park.
Over 16,000 runners will have spent the preceding days nervously winding down from their training and filling up on carbs before the big day on Sunday 12th October. Now they can relax and dine out on tales of race day and the completion of this beautiful autumnal run.
The route takes runners through Central London, passed notable landmarks and through four of the eight royal parks - Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James's Park and Kensington Gardens.
This year's event welcomed runners from 43 countries, representing 262 charities and 43 corporate organisations. While it may be a day for runners aiming to meet their own personal goals and challenges, it was also a great day for the 50,000 spectators lining the route. The organisers made sure there was a lot going on for family and friends on race day too. The Food and Fitness Festival in Hyde Park proved extremely popular, - live entertainment, all sorts of 'have-a-go' sporting activities, hot drinks and food stalls offering a selection of delicious healthy snacks and food samples.
Some spectators stayed in the hubbub of Hyde Park for the start and finish of the race, while others were dotted along the route of some of the Capital's famous landmarks - Buckingham Palace, The Royal Albert Hall, The London Eye, Wellington Arch, Admiralty Arch, Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
Whether you're a runner or spectator, a local Hyde Park resident or you live outside London, - the Royal Parks Half Marathon has a brilliant, buzzy atmosphere. Why not take up the challenge and sign up for next year's event!
Fed up being given the run-around when it comes to finding a home? The Kay & Co Connaught Village office is a short jog away and has plenty of property for sale and to rent in Hyde Park.
