This glamorous, award-winning bar at The Langham, London opened in 2007.
Now firmly established at the forefront of the capital’s increasingly sophisticated bar scene, Artesian maintains an extensive Champagne list, London’s largest collection of rums, as well as a truly imaginative cocktail menu.
The David Collins-designed interior is striking yet elegant, combining a dash of Orientalism with, perhaps, a romantic twist of Victorian nostalgia. The seating is reassuringly comfy and the atmosphere is warm and relaxed – complementing the creative cocktails…
Classics include a Langham Martini (Tanqueray No. Ten and Dry Vermouth) and an Old Cuban (Bacardi Ocho, Mint, Lime, Bitters and Champagne). Surreal options include Anti Hero (Don Julio Reposado, Muscat, Gentian, Verjus, Smoke and Blood Orange) and Seconds Before Awakening (Mortlach Old Rare, Aquavit, Ylang Ylang, Jasmine and Cypress) Yep.
Artesian has received countless accolades and awards, notably that of ‘World’s Best Bar’, which Drinks International magazine has bestowed on the team four years running! That’s pretty conclusive.
The bar’s name, incidentally, is inspired by the hotel’s historic, 365-feet-deep well, which once provided fresh water for all its guests. These days, of course, few come for the water. Nor, truthfully, will many come for the food, although it is exceptional and, as you might expect, really rather moreish.
