York & Albany, Restaurant in Regent’s Park

127-129 Parkway, Regent’s Park, London NW1 7PS

Name-dropping may be naff but sometimes you just have to. So, here goes…

York & Albany is set within a magnificent Victorian building designed by iconic British architect John Nash and now transformed into an oh-so-chic restaurant and bar by the Gordon Ramsay Group.

With a brazenly glam dining room and three plush, private dining areas, the York & Albany is an all-day destination for the fashionable Londoner. Regency style runs throughout – from awesome arches and gilded mirrors, to vaulted ceilings and not-at-all shabby furniture.

The British menu is trad-with-a-twist, as championed by Head Chef Will Stayner. And there are plenty of winners here. Fluffy Pancakes for breakfast, Lamb Croquettes for lunch, Scottish Venison Hot-Pot for dinner, plus finish-you-off puds such as Pistachio and Blackberry Bakewell. Phew.

Gather family and friends for a full-on Sunday lunch. Dishes include crackling-clad Dingley Dell Pork, perfectly-pink Rump of Hereford Beef, and herb-crusted Cornish Cod Loin. Write off thoughts of afternoon chores with a couple of Clover Club cocktails, featuring Tanqueray Gin, muddled with Chambord, raspberries and lemon juice.

In warmer weather, there may be an option to escape the ‘hustle and bustle’ of indoors and enjoy a candlelight supper in the romantic pop-up outside.
