Central London estate agents Kay & Co are proud to represent properties in some of the capital’s most desirable streets. There are so many beautiful locations across W1 and W2 that we’ve decided to create a new series of blogs called ‘Street Smart’ – guides to the streets we love. This month we will be looking at Bayswater.
Bayswater is located within Westbourne Grove and Bishop’s Bridge Road to the north, Bayswater Road to the South, Westbourne Terrace to the East and just beyond Queensway to the West.
The area is well known for having two of London’s royal parks on its doorstep - Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Bayswater has its own underground station (zone 1), offering connections on the District & Circle line. Close by are also Lancaster Gate and Queensway Tube stations.
If you’re looking at properties for sale in Bayswater, you might like to consider the following areas:-
Kensington Garden Square – The gardens were created in 1876 for the private use of residents. Like many garden squares in London, the original railings were removed during WWII as part of the war effort, with the intention of being melted down for use in weapons manufacture. They have since been replaced with replica wrought-iron as part of a garden upgrade. Today the gardens are surrounded by cream stucco-fronted terraces, with grand columned entrances, six, seven or even eight storeys and beautifully preserved period detailing.
Bayswater Road - Famous for running alongside the perimeter of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, this road is also well known for being transformed on a Sunday into the world’s liveliest open air art show. Over 150 artists and craftsmen display their original works of art on the edge of Hyde Park close to the Italian Gardens. The Porchester Gate development along Bayswater Road contains some of the most lavish flats for sale in Bayswater, with stunning views over the royal park.
Queensway – This bustling cosmopolitan street is home to the famous Whiteleys shopping centre, and is renowned for its many Chinese and Middle Eastern restaurants. It also has an abundance of cafés and shops. You can find an eclectic mix of properties for sale in Queensway, including ultra-modern apartments, immensely popular portered blocks and meticulous period refurbishments.
Craven Terrace - Craven Terrace is home to St. James & St. John’s Church of England primary school – rated as good by Ofsted - making the location a hit with families. The terrace is also within walking distance of the royal parks as well as being served by a number of small shops, restaurants and a pub.
