Estate agents, like families, proliferate at different rates. Some open so many new offices in such a short space of time that you lose track of them. Others, like Kay & Co, believe that small is beautiful.
We are celebrating our 35th anniversary this year and, up to now, have been operating from two central London offices, one in Hyde Park and one in Marylebone. We have put a premium on local expertise, building up an encyclopedic street-by-street knowledge of the area in the process.
Yet just as parents of two children often have a third, we have decided that the time is ripe to expand our operations, adding a third office in King’s Cross. The new office, which is due to open in the spring of 2018, will be a stylish, boutique-style operation, occupying a 25 ft frontage on the ground floor of the Google building at Unit 5, 6 Pancras Square, London N1C 4AG, just opposite Camden Council.
It is a move we have been pondering for some time, as part of a long-term strategy of targeting areas with excellent growth potential. King’s Cross is currently something of an urban oasis, with nothing like the fashionable cachet of some other London enclaves, but it has all the hallmarks of an up-and-coming area in the heart of the capital. Our new office will offer sales and lettings in King’s Cross and neighbouring Bloomsbury, another area with considerable growth potential.
“This is an exciting time for Kay & Co,” says Managing Director Martin Bikhit, who sees the new King’s Cross office as the ideal base from which to service the pipeline of new-build homes being developed by the King’s Cross Partnership, the body spearheading the multi-billion pound drive to regenerate the area.
Locating the office in the Google building should also enable Kay & Co to be head of the queue when it comes to assisting Google employees to rent or buy in King’s Cross and further afield.
No business, however successful, can afford to stand still. And we are looking forward to bringing to the new office the same tried-and-tested business values – a bespoke personal service, which have underpinned our company for 35 years.
