Dating back to the early eighteenth century, the Howard de Walden estate is the freehold owner of some 92 acres of Marylebone. The managing and leasing of properties across an area bounded by Marylebone High Street to the west, Portland Place to the east, Wigmore Street to the south and Marylebone Road to the north.
Like other great London estates, it has a colourful history, having been owned by the Dukes of Newcastle, then by the Dukes of Portland, before passing into the De Walden family in the late nineteenth century. In 2014, the value of the Estate, which comprises some 850 properties, ranging from studio flats to substantial townhouses, soared to an estimated £3.2 billion. Marylebone has never looked like a better bet for serious investors in London property, or a more attractive place to rent for both young professionals and families, who want to live near London’s great parks.
