Christmas is coming and Santa Claus will be visiting Kay & Co's Marylebone office on Wednesday, November 15. His appearance kicks off an afternoon of festive celebrations culminating in the switching on of the Christmas lights in Marylebone Village.
Soap superstar Barbara Windsor will hit the magic switch at 6pm to dazzle shoppers and light up the skies. The seasonal fun on Marylebone High Street and the surrounding area will run from 3pm until early evening. On the Devonshire Street stage, a spirited line up of excited school choirs will take turns to entertain the crowds, and the Lord Mayor of Westminster will announce the winner of the Christmas card competition at 5.50pm.
The event is organised every year by the Howard de Walden Estate. Street stalls will join the local retailers and offer food, drink, gifts and crafts. In Paddington Street there's a tombola with some spectacular prizes.
The grand switch-on is raising money to support School Home Support, a charity working with children and their families to maximise educational opportunities and improve life chances. You can help in a number of ways: by buying tombola tickets, donating by means of the collection buckets on the streets, having a ride on the big wheel and buying anything from the Christmas Lights Information Tent.
You’ll find Santa in his grotto at Kay & Co’s Marylebone office on 20a Paddington Street, London W1U 5QP from 3.30pm to 6.30pm on November 15.
